The YKC...
...is an AKC affiliated dog club that welcomes all dog lovers. We have something for everyone; obedience classes, flyball practice, Canine Good Citizen testing, agility training, and we hope to welcome a Rally instructor in the near future.
We donate money to local animal-related organizations such as the Humane Society of Yuma, and have purchased vests for police dogs and contributed to animal rescue leagues during natural disasters. We offer a scholarship each year to one or two qualified high school seniors who plan to pursue higher education in an animal-related field.
Some of our annual fund raisers include an AKC match [practice show] and AKC licensed all-breed dog show with rally and obedience competition; Photos with Santa; Canine Good Citizen Testing; and other events as we are able.
Our members' doggie interests and activities vary. We have pet lovers with companion dogs, others who visit nursing homes with their therapy dogs, some who breed purebred dogs, others who compete with their dogs. Most of us pitch in to help at the annual dog show, which is a lot of fun in addition to being hard work!
We'd love to have new members join our group. See the "Calendar" page for meeting times, and "Membership" page for membership procedures.
